Mr Greg Maughan is an agribusiness consultant and dairy farmer with 40 years’ experience. He specialises in rural development, dairy development, beef and dairy cattle management, intensive dairying, tropical fodder production and conservation and animal welfare.

Mr Maughan is skilled at building professional relationships – both within and outside of the dairy industry. From 2009 to 2016, he was the Sponsorship Manager for the New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards – negotiating and managing the sponsorship portfolio.

Mr Maughan is currently the Chief Technical Advisor for the Fiji Dairy Industry Development Initiative (FDIDI), which Prime is implementing on behalf of the New Zealand Government. He was previously the Chief Technical Officer for the Indonesian Dairy Excellence Activity (also funded by the New Zealand Government).

His work as a consultant since 2013 has included planning, designing and implementing dairy units; crisis management; project management; dairy industry feasibility studies (financial analysis, design and recommendations); on-farm strategic problem solving; advising on animal welfare issues, particularly feeding and nutrition; feed budgeting and herd record keeping; training and mentoring farmers, including up-and-coming young farmers.

Mr Maughan owns a 350-cow dairy farm in New Zealand and has also farmed in the United Kingdom.
